TAGGING: Central time zone! My busiest day of the week is Tuesday, and my weekends are Friday-Saturday. Depending on how crazy work is (this has been a busy summer.....), I can end up being a bit inconsistent, but I try to stay caught up.
INTERESTS: Terrible shit, tbh--ask me about the Alex Jones recap podcast I can't stop listening to! Books (kidlit, nonfiction, and classics, mostly), movies (esp. old Hollywood), music (mostly American stuff, esp. traditional pop/the Great American Songbook), the history of everyday people, cooking/baking, sewing, learning to draw, trying to keep on top of my shit, quiet strangenesses of all stripes. I mostly do memes and shit on my plurk.

NAME: ruth aldine
CANON: marvel (x-men comics, specifically)
LANGUAGE: american english
TL;DR: she's got no eyes, a weird vocal tic, and a lotta problems. kind of suicidal atm, but otherwise a somewhat awkward, well-meaning nerd around age 19 who likes watchmen and can see the future. normally, anyway. she's lost a lot of her independence in-game, which has really not been her favourite (bUT IT'S STILL BETTER THAN WHAT SHE'D BE DOING AT HOME).

RUNDOWN: MADE THE EXCELLENT CHOICE TO DO PSYCHIC SHIT AFTER EVERYONE ELSE WAS LIKE PLEASE DON'T DO PSYCHIC SHIT. please feel free to get involved with that. right now, she's recovering, but in a while, she'll be back to sorry-yes-pardon her way through a HEY GUYS THE SETTING IS ALIVE broadcast. beyond that, she's mostly just trying to get her old school principal back home so he can fix everything with the help of a guy who shoots lasers out his eyes.
OFFERED CR: so, probably needless to say, ruth is pretty odd, and she's aware of it! she's not terribly surprised by complicated or negative cr developments, and frankly, i'm as for them as i am positive cr.

roles she fits into easily include:

• the weird friend (or weird acquaintance, or weird enemy)
• that girl in the corner who makes bad choices
• that girl in the corner who's trying to stop you from making bad choices fuck's sake!!!!

personality-wise, ruth is someone who takes time to open up but can end up being fun, sarcastic, flirty, teasing, etc.--a fairly normal teenage girl, basically--once she gets to know somebody. she's just been burned a lot, both by humans and fellow mutants (she isn't exactly popular, even by the standards of a school where people can light shit on fire), and she's not currently in a great place mentally. so there are honestly a lot of ways CR can go! they just might be longterm goals.

DESIRED CR: all the cr? all the cr. i love everything going on so far! but i'd like her to get more comfortable with others, enough so that her personality comes out from under everything else. whether that develops into friendship or rivalry (or a friendly rivalry), i'm not super worried about the deets, haha. ruth is stubborn, but she doesn't tend to hold grudges (her boyfriend took her to the moon to show her a guy he killed and she forgave him????), so honestly, cr can really go all over the place and still end up someplace interesting.

ETC: FIRST OF ALL: it's important to know that ruth's character involves upsetting subject matter (child abuse, murder, mental illness, trauma, suicide), so if you want to avoid engaging with any/all of that, i've got a permissions/opt-out post. please also use it if you want to clarify anything about her powers and how they'd work in a thread/with a character/etc.!

RUNDOWN: ellie's been getting her bearings a little faster than she really should since she's from a survival(ist?) horror setting. autres pays, autre merde. hit her up at the log, or her post / log about the ruins, or the psychic freakout.

OFFERED CR:

• I'M A SURVIVOR: Ellie is a teenage paranoid survivalist from a world of paranoid survivalists. If you get her approval high enough, she's happy to teach your character to hunt, skin, cook and eat wild animals, use a recursive bow, make arrows, make bombs, make molotov cocktails, etc.
• CALLOUTS: Ellie is also good as that weird teenage girl who calls you on your shit, because that's basically her role in the first half of the game. if she gets to know your character well enough, she will call bull if bull is present. however, this is rp and the novelty of my character always being right is long dead; this goes both ways. please call her out if your character would; she is hiding some deep shit (mostly about herself, mostly stuff no one would really care about, but, yknow, teenagers) and is generally just. strange.
• DID I MENTION STRANGE: to anyone with eyes (sorry, ruth), ellie is clearly severely fucked up emotionally, and it shows. you want that weird kid who says unexpectedly morbid shit at cheery times, who says unexpectedly cheery shit at morbid times, and generally is just a little... off? that's her.
• TINY FRIEND: Also, she's a teenager. she needs friends her age. she will happily accept adults who are not her age. do you want to add a teenager to your party?
• YOU'RE AWESOME: are you from a primarily sf/f canon? ellie will gush and ask you questions. she loves genre novels. like a lot.

DESIRED CR:

• FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC: Ellie is incredibly lonely and really needs some people to hang her stars around. It'd be cool (and probably healthier for her emotionally) if those people were her age but YOU KNOW, BEGGARS AND CHOOSERS. She gets along weirdly well with military types, older men / women who have Done And Seen Horrible Things, etc. It's almost like she has experience with those types...
• POP CULTURE SENSEI: Ellie is secretly obsessed with the 'old world' before the fungal zombie plague that Ruined Everything (spoilers for a game from 2013), and is dying to know more about it. this ranges everything, from military history to pop songs. she'll find some stuff more interesting than others, of course, but she's deathly curious. she just hasn't really had time to ask around, especially since, people being from different dimensions and shit, she's not sure what 'counts'.
• BOOK CLUB: ellie loves books by like a lot. they're the primary form of entertainment in her world, since theres no tv or internet or elec...tricity.... yay. anywho, in this place, none of the books have FREAKING WORDS IN THEM (as she's put it). she's started journaling instead, since like look at this plethora of blank pages, and will probably encourage others to do so and 'leave a record'. look, she's a video game character; it's what they do.
• FINAL FANTASY: MORBID CHILDREN: Ellie is becoming increasingly curious about funerals and how to mourn / grieve for the dead. she's... never been allowed to do that, so this isn't a goth phase so much as a genuine desire to be allowed to feel emotional catharsis, remember and honor the dead. of course some people are going to be freaked out by that when she asks them how they want their funeral to go, or tells them her funerary plans, but if your character would respond well and support her, that'd be cool.
• NEGATIVELY SPEAKING: people who dont respect boundaries. people who don't tell the truth. people who enjoy violence / killing. people who are violent without being provoked. people who hide things or keep things back. people who make decisions for her. people who don't take her paranoia seriously. people who undermine her survival strategies. people who just catch her in a bad mood that day. come 2 me.

ETC:

last cr meme, I wrote about my deep desire not to have ellie be 'adopted' into a family unit, but after playing her a month in game, i'd like to edit that statement. ellie gravitates toward certain people, and they may be older than her; it's clearly a pattern and it'd ooc of me to ignore it. however, she's at least consciously aware, due to Joel Trauma, that being someones 'replacement daughter' is bad news.

as such, i am completely okay with your character trying to adopt ellie if they're the adopting type. however, she'll chafe against The Actual Familial Words, she'll chafe against being told what to do, and she'll be genuinely conflicted about whether to trust your character at all. she'll be in constant low level turmoil and self doubt.

Essentially, this is a totally acceptable route to take and I wanna make that clear, but it's gonna be less 'leave it to beaver' found family and more 'leave it to beaver as directed by werner herzog' found family.

OFFERED CR: Koushirou tends to fill a few roles in a group or one-on-one:

• Giving logical and technical advice on a situation
• Loyally following around whoever he's deemed friend priority #1 and helping them not die
• Making quietly bitchy comments that are so subtle and said so politely that they don't sound like insults

DESIRED CR: I'm open to anything since he's so new and also just because a variety of CR is great. He tends to be very chill, but also quite reserved and independent, so he does better with people who aren't super pushy and don't expect much emotional support from him.

RUNDOWN: i've been quietly picking at things this way and that!! still trying to get settled and ease my way into things by tagging a couple of things, hoping to get to more soon! i don't have anything open atm, but his inbox is always available! my health has been doing a thing so i'm mostly just going with the flow right now.

• the asshole ▻ haein is an asshole. he's great at starting pointless arguments, being really blunt and insensitive, and generally being a jerk about everything. it's super easy to get him to hate people instantly and hold a grudge for basically Forever so if you need a pain in the ass well here he is.
  
• that party member you never bring ▻ while he's great at adapting, haein is piss poor at survival. he's from a big ass city!! need someone really useless to make your character suffer?? one (1) deadweight at ur service.
  
• i feel like i need a third thing ▻ so here's a thing. i'm taking a nap after this!!

DESIRED CR:

• persistence is key ▻ people who refuse to take his words to heart, see right thru his bullshit, and willingly choose to hang around haein are the kind of types that ultimately wear him down and get him to reluctantly accept he's not getting rid of that person any time soon.
  
• people to hate ▻ what it says on the tin!! negative cr is my life. make things personal, get real stubborn and angry up in here, whatever!! easy mode af.
  
• teach him a thing ▻ okay so like mentioned before, haein can't bear grylls his way out of anything. but!! he's not looking to die either, and he's a fast learner, so if anyone wants to teach him how to survive, he'd probably shut up and pay attention.
  
• anything else ▻ i'll take it. i'm not picky and i can go with anything, trust.

ETC: haein can sense when human beings aren't human beings. he's great in that he will pre-judge your character if they're supernatural/a god/a demon/something else and be suspicious of them from the get-go. possibly more hostile than usual. he won't automatically know what your character is, just that they aren't human. is this okay? not okay? let me know!

in the same vein, haein is a demigod and if your character is able to sense things like that you are free to go for it!
