A QUERY.

Hey, guys! As you may have noticed, submissions for Mirror Shenanigans close June 19th. However, that date was a guesstimate made before we knew how many people would be in game or how fast it would be. As such, we're wondering what you guys think about moving the date, or how that should work. We figured we'd ask!

Something to keep in mind: Submissions are only due because they will affect the outcome of the next log. June 19th is not when the current log is over and everyone has to stop playing on it.

So, what do you think? Should we move the due date (and thus the log)?

ONE MORE THING.

Additionally, since we actually know you guys now, we want to adjust the game pace to what's most comfortable for our playerbase. Do you think we should adjust our event schedule?

the shadow meme

As we all know, the Wasteyard is infected with shadow creatures!

To quote the setting info:

Flexible in size and shape, they're hazy and insubstantial as shadow, shifting through the forms and behavior of creatures—particularly monsters—from other worlds. Often, they take the silhouette of something characters fear, but it can be anything as long as the canon is represented in game. They may even transform before characters' eyes, difficult as it is to stare directly at them, but they never make a sound and emanate a chill so cold that they burn upon contact.

Sometimes they seem placid and still, or distracted entirely by some repetitive task. Sometimes they attack without warning. Their default is unpredictability. What sets them off is unknowable; it may be a sound, a smell, or perhaps just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Regardless, they have all the speed and strength of their form, although they lack powers or special abilities they can't physically mimic (e.g., they can't imitate electrical powers, but they can sprout extra appendages). They make up for it by being nigh impossible to destroy; even if they disintegrate, they can reform.

It's possible to hold off or distract them—and, sometimes, they might just lose interest—but they only truly obey boundaries. They'll never step foot indoors.

So the real question is.. what do your character's shadows look like?

Do they always have the same shape or do they change into something else every time your character sees them? How does your character feel about the shadows they see?

Feel free to use images or just describe them! And you can edit/add to your comments as the game story continues if you want.

BACKSTORY MEME

Post shit about your character's backstory. Youtube videos, quotes from books, an interpretive dance, whatever.

That's it. That's the meme.

HEAD'S UP.

Hey, guys! We know this game is super new and we don't want to pressure you with complex minutia. That said, because it's new, we do want to make sure everyone understands the rules they agreed to when they joined. It's not a big one and it's easy to miss; we just want to give you all a reminder.

In the gameplay section of our FAQ, it states:
Private prompts are welcome on the main community as well, but should include at least one open or group prompt with it; otherwise, it's better suited for an inbox.
We apologize if this wasn't clear, but that applies to everything from network posts, logs, and top levels.

This means we treat closed top levels as inbox threads, since we want to encourage open posts on the main community. This is to maximize character interaction and versatility, especially when we're still such a small game. If you're worried about biting off more than you can chew with an open TL, you can always precisely control the amount of threads you have by tagging out and keeping closed logs in your inbox.

Again, we know this is a very new game and we have some variations in our format that might break the DWRP game standard, so we understand there will be an adjustment period. So if you have closed starters, don't worry about it; we're allowing those as regular community threads for our first AC period.

Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions about this or anything else about our game flow, please let us know! In general, we're prepared to modify our game mechanics to give everyone a better experience.
