RUNDOWN: mostly? ellie's been a dick to 90% of the people she's met. more like 98%. she has difficulty trusting people and it comes out in TEENAGE REBELLION!!! if she doesnt find a gun or something to make bow and arrows out of shes gonna lose it (so, countdown...)

• SURVIVAL: ellie knows a metric fuckton about surviving in adverse circumstances and is scrappy enough to manage it, especially against foes who outweigh and outclass her. if you gain her trust, she'll show you. or if she pities you.
• HEY THERE LONELY GIRL: ellie is freakishly lonely and pathologically terrified of being left behind, so while she's standoffish and rude, the deep desire to have friends will win out. this is regardless of age (tho she will respond somewhat better to people who are closer to her age). THAT SAID, as poor robbie reyes will attest, sometimes being nice 'for no reason' will set her off as well. she's a teenager, theyre supposed to be volatile, right?
• MURDER: ellie is lonely and empathetic and none of this prevents her from killing someone if they come at her, or employing wanton violence as a means of self-defense. she gets 'triggered' into fight or flight more easily than most, so someone being on the wrong side of that would be fun, esp if you want neg cr or neg cr that can evolve into more neutral / positive.

DESIRED CR:

• CHILL THE FUCK OUT:the sooner someone gets ellie to calm down, the better. she still doesn't believe this place is safe-- i mean, does anybody?-- but her reaction to it may be uh. a little much. yelling at her will be gr8 for neg cr. trying to logically argue her out of it will be interesting simply because nobody ever does that. smacking her around is totally allowed, but she will not take to it well.
• STUPID RADIO SHIT: ellie almost definitely doesn't know how to type but will love radios. i'm sorry about how she's inevitably going to spam the network with irregular broadcasts to fuck nobody.
• EQUALITE: ellies never been treated as an equal by like. anyone. ever. so that'd basically blow her fucking mind.
• PLAYMATES: ellie is particularly starved for company around her age. at her current canonpoint, she's barely fifteen; however, due to the world she lived in, age barriers were a lot less rigid when you're a kid (her first kiss was when she was 14 with a 16y/o) so to her, 'around her age' means like anyone younger than 18 and even then she's willing to play lose with it. have i mentioned she's lonely? alternatively, due to the brutal nature of her world, she has difficulty registering more obviously fantasy or sf people as 'real' and thus dangerous; they'll gain her trust faster.

all that said, neither i nor, honestly, ellie, is looking to have her become a 'little sis' / 'daughter' figure to someone. basically, ellie wants to be your friend, your confidant, even your protector, but she's really tired of being people's replacement family. she's really invested in her independence, and so am i.

weird survivalist uncle in the woods — octavia is really, really good at surviving in harsh circumstances. as unfriendly as she is initially, she can definitely help out on that front if someone is willing to put up with her being a grump for a bit.
negative cr — she's incredibly abrasive and doesn't warm well to anyone she thinks isn't 100% genuine. let her be a dick to your character! this can turn into begrudging allies and even friends once she realizes she's being an ass for no reason, if you want.
protector — she actually really likes to play the hero, and has a bit of chronic hero syndrome. it gives her life meaning, basically, and having someone who needs her around is enough reward for her to give her protection.

DESIRED CR:

outcasts — she is one herself, and she loves them. this is probably one of the types of people she'd warm to quickest.
warriors/soldiers/survivalists — these are also her people. she really admires someone who's strong and capable. more than that, she admires someone who is strong, capable, and kind all at the same time.
smart, techy, modern types — these are way less her people, and she'll feel out of her element. despite being from the future, she's much more comfortable with a tribalistic culture.

RUNDOWN: he's just trying to figure this shit out. he's confused as to why the rider's not popping up more often since the guy is not patient and he's worrying about his brother and trying to figure out how this place can do what it does. he's been mostly civil to people he's met but he's aloof and distant for the most part.
OFFERED CR: underneath the very rough exterior, he's a really good, loyal guy who will do whatever he can to help you. just don't piss him off or try and kill him or someone he cares about because all bets are off. he's very dry so a really good straight man.
DESIRED CR: robbie meshes well with people who are more outgoing than he is and who can handle his penchant for aloofness and not think it's anything personal. he's got a natural instinct to care about younger people because of his brother so that's a thing that he can do too.

Ben Dearborn is a classic Virgo with a Capricorn moon (so like, a Worse Virgo.) he's a professor with his doctorate in world religious studies. yeah, clearly a party animal, there.
on top of being a posh professor stereotype, Ben has some quirks — jotting down sigils, carrying glowing feathers through the dark, briefcase permanently scented of sage and eucalyptus. he's probably a tarot deck and one note of patchouli shy of being a full on witch.
and then there's the Bible on his person, and an old notebook filled front to back of hand-written descriptions about demons...everything from Western to Eastern lands; definitely more notes on the Christianity side of things. needles to say, if snakes manifest inside your home...who you gonna call?

RUNDOWN: Ben has been living a fantastically dull life and being super ignorant of his piling depression, had a cool little fling during a working visit in Japan with a real cute guy, but they broke it off before Ben came back to England. life sucks and then you die, as they say. people do say that. I do, for example.
Ben has a top level on the TDM, to get a good idea of him as a character and in the setting, but I will be adding lots of y'all on plurk to see about plotting when the first event goes live. his inbox is here with texting and voice capability, at least Ben is praying so.
at the moment, I'm just excited to delve into the strange environment, throw Ben for a couple more loops, and get him knit into the tapestry of the cast with some cr! who can he get help from, who can he help, he wants to feel more directly purposeful at the moment while he and everyone else is helplessly flapping their hands at MC Escher land here.
OFFERED CR: Ben is capable of being a cooperative authoritarian, a record keeper of vital information, a mother hen, the voice of reason, and a strategist. he can be calm, stable, trustworthy, and surprisingly caring; he knows first aid (CPR certified) and speaks Japanese and Italian on top of English, making him a relatively helpful interpreter. please don't be shy if any of these qualities ping your brain for possible cr with yours.
DESIRED CR: kind of anything: fire-forged cr, peas in a pod, opposites stuck together, functionally prickly/nagging/argumentative cr, guardian over yours/accidental mom friend (but like, the kind that will force you to eat your vegetables,) accidental feels/sharing vulnerabilities, and sharing cultures/world backgrounds. oh and if you want to get existential in arguments about God and all that crap, Ben the exorcist is the perfect excuse (even though he's super reluctant to fling that tidbit about himself out there, plenty of odd indicators point to Ben being...not as typical boring Professor Tweed as he comes off.) happy with tense and suspenseful plots, horror or fantasy, cute shit, survival/nest building, all sorts.

TL;DR: tall, flirtatious, polyamorous dandy that uses dry sarcasm and pop culture references to cope with how shitty Real Life is while self-medicating as much as possible and pretending he's not desperately lonely and actually caring. arrived with a stitched up axe-wound on his stomach and needs a cane to walk now. he's also a king nbd. while he presents as rich, carefree, and sophisticated, he's actually from nowhere Indiana and uses his persona as a way to hide all of his personal baggage. he has arguably the most trauma of the main characters in the show.

RUNDOWN: trying to find drugs, for the wound mostly, but if there's good shit around, he's not wasting it. also trying to find alcohol and not succeeding. saving a dramatic boy-king and fellow gimp. befriending an angry latino. flirting with billy, aka william of westworld. adopting a radio named george.
OFFERED CR: multifaceted chameleon character that is the dad friend of his social circle. he's the party friend, the get-high-and-chill-with friend, the accidentally-backstabs-you-while-high friend, a secret keeper, loyal too death, and a protector. he gets along with just about anyone and is the only main character that's on friendly terms with everyone else in the main cast (for different reasons).
DESIRED CR: friends, fwbs, frenemies, etc. gimme everything. el has a lot of love to give. 😘

LANGUAGE: english; i assumed this dumbass would know at least rudimentary spanish bc of living initially in louisiana & his whole ~empathy thing~, but can find no canon evidence of it, so looks like he's SOL without his radio if he encounters any non-english-speakers
TL;DR:

will graham initially comes off as grouchy, antisocial, and awkward to the point of it seeming almost intentional. that's because it is! partially, at least. he really is awkward but he plays it up in order to stay a bit distanced from other people. will has the DSM-non-compliant issue of an "empathy disorder", which, aside from being the main crux of how he does his job in the series (he sniffs out serial killers for the fbi), basically just means he's like, a really great cold reader. if he pretended to read your palm he could probably convince you that either he actually had psychic powers, or one of your friends is fucking with you and let him look at your twitter feed for a few minutes before you went into the carnival tent. will is canonly not thrilled with this ability of his, because it's ~distracting~ (wah).

RUNDOWN: will's so far been on reasonably good terms with everyone he came across (surprisedpikachu.mp4) but he hasn't physically met too many people (zero! he's met zero! this is scratching at his sanity a bit). everyone has been radios & mirrors. will is also suspicious that the setting may be either alive or contain something intelligent that's "running" it, due to a weird run-in with his mirror. he's otherwise unaware of most of the basic mechanics (he hasn't realized the radios translate yet, for instance, since he hasn't met anyone in person to get confused by).
OFFERED CR: begrudging, fire-forged cr is my jam and it's what will is going to default to for most people. he's starved for some in-person meet-ups but he's still going to be awkward when it finally happens. for other characters, will can offer protection or at least the attempt of it; understanding of weird issues yours has (mental health problems? your character's somewhere morally gray? super reactive to weird shit due to trauma? PILE IT ON OVER HERE); & general bitchiness/negative cr bc he is prone to being snappy, rude, or otherwise socially inappropriate when stressed.
DESIRED CR: will's ability for cr to be positive or negative will probably unfold naturally on a case-by-case basis, altho i'm a bit more personally interested in 'we can't stand each other at first but will begrudgingly slowly help each other out anyway' than just straight-up negative cr. as a person, will's likely still going to help people he's not fond of, though, so that's something to play with. also very happy for will to play protector OR damsel-in-distress with others, bc being helped by someone else will have a huge impact on him. please attempt to befriend this idiot.

TL;DR:



RUNDOWN: William feels like he's been here for weeks and weeks, so he's kinda desperate for human contact of any kind (though not desperate enough to respond to Eliot's attempts at flirtation). He's not as freaked out as he should be by the setting, which he finds deeply, deeply fascinating—he managed to cut open a mirror and discovered A WATCHFUL ABYSS behind it (and didn't immediately run away screaming because ??????). But yeah, he's super easy to approach right now—just hearing another voice would make him happy, and if your character wanted to compare notes about weird shit, so much the better. It's only a matter of time before he starts making more questionable decisions in order to delve into the ~mysteries~ of the setting, so if your char would either enable or shut that shit down, they'd likely be a good match.

OFFERED CR: Oh boy. William has years of practice being a wet blanket, so if you want someone to try and ruin your character's fun (or at least judge and maybe lecture them), he's your guy. In his previous game he was surrounded by a lot of badass military types (because...it was a war game), and got used to being the Lone Person Who Is Semi-Comfortable With Expressing Human Emotions (despite being kind of repressed himself, fucking lol)—I'm definitely down for more of that, or if you wanted to flip it on its head and have your character shock him with their emotional intelligence, please. (He's Sad about his girlfriend, and I apologize in advance because even if he doesn't mention it outright, I guarantee it will come up.)

And as alluded to above, William is really into weird shit. If your character is weird, bring it on. Bonus points if their weirdness includes some altered perception of the world—basically, William is obsessed with meaning, systems of meaning, and what constitutes reality. He's also very observant and a good listener, so if you want someone who'll pick up on the nuances of your character, he's a good candidate (also if he thinks someone's hiding something from him, he tends to keep picking at them).

DESIRED CR: I love playing William off people who challenge him in some way—whether it's intellectually, morally, hell, even physically. This can mean a character encouraging or demanding more of him in a good way, or just straight-up fighting with him. He can be surprisingly ruthless and spiteful if the stakes are high enough/if you play your cards wrong (or right?? idk what y'all are into).

He also l o v e s stories—if you play a character with the gift of gab or a colorful existence, he'd be extremely pleased to hear them talk about their world. Philosophical discussions are dope as well.

OH AND THIS IS SUPER NICHE but if your character has ever died, so has William!!! And he is weirdly ok talking about it, if that is something you're interested in working toward.

OFFERED CR: carver is GREAT for negative CR if you're looking for it; he kinda sucks, even if he's trying to be better, and has an argumentative streak a mile wide. on the flip side of that, if you need a tank to aggro a bunch of beasties for you while you're out and about, carver's your guy; as mentioned, he's very comfortable with the whole "fighting shit periodically while you wander around" gambit, and he likes feeling useful.
DESIRED CR: I love some good classic comrade-in-arms CR for him; he's easy to bond with over war/military service/what have you. People he butts heads with but kind of likes in a begrudging sort of way. Straight up negative CR, because he wouldn't be him without it. People who can help him technology, because he hates it but also he desperately needs it if he ever wants to be understood.
